A 43-year-old Milwaukee man is a suspect in at least four burglaries of Mequon businesses on North Port Washington Road in June and July. The man was identified through surveillance video inside two of the businesses and another that revealed the license plate of the van he drove. Police traced that plate and discovered the van belonged to the Department of Corrections and the suspect was then traced to a cell at the Marshall E. Sherrer Correction Center on North 14th Street, Milwaukee. The man drove the van while on work release taking other inmates also on work release to their jobs. After he dropped them off, he allegedly committed burglaries at Dark Side Tan, Signature Auto Detailing, Picardy Shoe Parlor and North Shore Auto Service. The van had a GPS tracking system, which also showed the van was at each of these locations at the time they were entered. Mequon police Capt. Daniel Buntrock added that the same man is a suspect in other burglaries in Milwaukee and Saukville.

Various garden equipment, including a skill saw and a grinder valued at over $2,000, were taken from Mequon Gardens, 5400 W. County Line Road, on Aug. 4.

Jewelry valued at $2,400 was taken from the 12300 block of North Golf Drive between 11:30 a.m. and about 1 p.m. Aug. 8. There was sign of forced entry.


A 17-year-old Saukville boy was arrested for possession of drug paraphernalia, a burnt marijuana cigarette, and violation of his driver license restrictions in the 3500 block of West Mequon Road at 2:12 a.m. Aug. 4.


A 48-year-old River Hills man was arrested for drunken driving and defective taillamp in the 5900 block of West County Line Road at 1:35 a.m. Aug. 4. He was on crutches with one leg in a cast and was only able to take some field sobriety tests, which he failed. His BAC was 0.17 and he was taken for a blood draw.

A 45-year-old Mequon man was arrested for drunken driving and driving left of center in the 12700 block of North Port Washington Road at midnight Aug. 5. He failed field sobriety tests and had a BAC of 0.16.

A 58-year-old Thiensville man riding a motorcycle was arrested for drunken driving, with two prior convictions, after a 911 call from another motorcyclist who reported the suspect driving erratically almost hitting a garbage truck in the 11300 block of North Cedarburg Road at 2:05 p.m. Aug. 6. The man was taken for a blood draw.

A 23-year-old Saukville man was arrested for drunken driving and warned for speeding in the 14400 block of North Cedarburg Road at 2:48 a.m. Aug. 7. The man at first denied drinking then admitted having two cocktails. His BAC was 0.18.

A 55-year-old Minnesota man was arrested for drunken driving and given a warning for speeding about 10 miles over the limit in the 9600 block of North Cedarburg Road at 12:15 a.m. Aug. 8. His BAC was 0.09.


A 43-year-old Milwaukee man was cited for disorderly conduct after causing a disturbance at the BP Station, 11147 N. Port Washington Road, at 10:20 a.m. Aug. 8. The man took a cheddar cheese and brat sandwich from a display, took a bite and then put the sandwich back on the display. An employee told him he couldn't do that and had to pay for the sandwich. The man became angry, saying he thought it was hot dog and didn't want it. He then began to yell, using vulgar language, and left the store. The man was arrested when employees pointed him out at a nearby construction site where he was working.
